FACILITY PROVIDES REALISTIC SCENARIOS August 1st 2005 Lyon Equipment runs training courses in vertical rescue from confined spaces at its new training facility at Tebay, Cumbria.
Training facilities for confined space rescue include a 2.5m dia tower with access via a variable size opening, and a 5.5m high silo, to provide realistic scenarios for rescue.
The course covers how to set up a safe system for lowering operators into a confined space, including the selection of suitable anchors, and how to carry out emergency recovery, setting up a hauling system to retrieve the operator while ensuring the rescuers do not put themselves in danger. For situations where the operator in the confined space cannot be simply hauled up in harness, different styles of stretcher are used carrying a full body weight dummy.
