TINY INSTRUMENT MONITORS GAS
August 1st 2004

The latest gas monitor from Shawcity is small enough to be hidden behind a credit card, weighs just 83g, and is certified atex intrinsically safe. ToxiRAE II continuously measures and displays gas levels and, as soon as a high level occurs, three modes of alarm, audible, vibrating and flashing light, alert the wearer to take action. There are readings and alarms for high levels, 15min STEL and 8h TWA. Alarm levels may be changed by the user. With one-button operation, the user switches on to display the gas level, then presses again to indicate peak and average readings. By pressing and holding the single button, he/she can calibrate the monitor and re-programme the alarms. Sensors and battery are said to last at least two years. Both can be replaced in the field by the user.
