DUST AND FUME REMOVAL SYSTEM
December 1st 2004

A Nonflam W220 wet dust extraction unit from Carter-Thorne has been installed in the polishing department of Shortt Stainless Steel in Co.

Limerick. It is the third such unit in use at Shortt’s and was installed by Harold Engineering of Dublin.

The W220 removes dust and fume created by abrasive belt polishing, used to finish a wide range of stainless steel products.

Nonflam collectors are a highly effective dust removal system. They use a water-filled tank through which dust and residues are drawn by an impellor fan. Units are available with a range of fans, precisely rated for individual applications (up to 7.5kW in cases where it is necessary to remove sticky or oily dust from the metal being treated).

Particles sink to the base of the collection tank, where they are easily removed by raking into a container.
