October 1st 2006

Gas Measurement Instruments (GMI) has introduced a carbon dioxide sensor for the Visa personal gas detector.

The new sensor detects carbon dioxide by infrared in the range 0 to 5% volume, resolving to 0.05%, and provides High Alarm at 2.5%, stel alarm at 1.5% and ltel (twa) alarm at 0.5%. It is atex certified for use in confined spaces.

Accuracy of detection is ensured as the infrared detection system is not affected by any cross sensitivity or pollution from other gases. A GMI warranty covers the cell for four years, with expected life to be more than five years.

Typical applications include confined space monitoring and personal protection in the nuclear, gas, brewing and marine industries.
