'Electronic nose' gas detector
June 1st 2007

Air quality monitoring specialist, Enviro Technology, has introduced a portable detector that measures up to 750 hazardous gases and chemical warfare agents.

The GDA 2 (Gas Detector array) 'electronic nose' can be used to measure, simultaneously, many hazardous compounds, including Benzene, Formaldehyde and Phosgene and chemical warfare agents (CWAs) such as Sarin, Tabun and so on.

The lightweight, batterypowered, handheld detector will give users instantaneous readings via visual (red LED) audible alarms.

Duncan Mounsor, Enviro Technology's operations director, says "You can take this product onto a site without knowing what's already in the air and, within seconds, it will identify and quantify potentially dangerous airborne compounds.

"Many customers call us reporting 'unusual odours' in the air and, traditionally, it has been difficult to identify and quantify these. The GDA 2 will also make this type of analysis much easier." It incorporates an array of sensors and detectors, including an IMS a PID, an MOS, and electrochemical sensors.
