Guide to SF6
August 1st 2007

EA Technology has produced a comprehensive guide to working with sulphur hexafluoride gas (SF6), which is widely used as an insulator and arc suppressor in modern high voltage industrial switchgear.

Written in the style of HSE guidance notes, it is designed as a user-friendly guide for field engineers working directly with gasfilled switchgear in any industry. It also contains indepth guidance for asset managers on how to store, handle, test and dispose of the gas.

Gary Eastwood, substations consultant with EA Technology, comments "This is the first time all the information about SF6 has been pulled together and presented in a single package. It can be used as an operator manual, for staff training and to formulate policy.

"It will also help companies ensure compliance with the new European Regulation 842/2006 on fluorinated gases." The guide can be bought for 50, plus p&p, from: maureen.edwards@ eatechnology.com.
