Lightening load of scba
August 1st 2008

A new Advanced Carrying System (ACS) for selfcontained breathing apparatus (SCBA) has been introduced by Scott Health & Safety.

The new ACS is said to be significantly lighter than any other carrying system in its class and has a lightweight ThermoFlex backplate to boost comfort, ease of movement and flexibility which, in turn, contributes to less wearer fatigue.

The ergonomically designed, soft back plate is moulded to fit the spine and back muscles and was developed following research with osteopaths, fabric and industrial technologists.

The harness has fully adjustable padded shoulder straps and waistbelt with quick release buckle. D-rings allow easy connection of other equipment.

At the heart of the ACS is a high performance twostage pneumatic system. No tools are necessary to remove the pneumatics; this is achieved simply by rotating the pneumatics 90° to disengage from the mounting.
