Soft seal respirator
June 1st 2006

To minimise the risk of respiratory damage to workers exposed to cement dusts, Chris Fish, health and safety advisor at Castle Cement's Ribblesdale plant, has opted to standardise FFP3 protection in all respirators on site.

FFP3 protection, which offers an Assigned Protection Factor of 20, is the highest class available for filtering half masks within the EN149 standard.

To combine safety with a high level of comfort, Chris Fish specified the new 3M 8833 cup-shaped, valved, soft-seal disposable respirator with FFP3 protection.

With a robust shell and cup design, it conforms well to different sized faces while maintaining its shape, and is collapse-resistant during use. An exhalation valve helps reduce moisture buildup, and an adjustable nose clip and inner face-seal ring provide a secure fit without compromising comfort.
