BSIF elects new directors
February 1st 2009

At its Annual General Meeting, held in the vaults at the Brewery in London, the Chairman Elect, David Hall of Moldex Metric announced "Over the past two years a number of long serving Directors have retired, that there are others likely to retire during the next few years and that this situation will drive the BSIF to think seriously about the future.

The time is now right for consideration to be given towards what we want the BSIF to stand for, how we would wish the Federation to be positioned in respect of other stakeholders and the best way to evolve the BSIF as a robust and viable representative of the UK safety industry on behalf of its membership."

"In bringing definition to what the BSIF is, how it operates and the fundamental message it wishes to promote it will need to consider the ways in which it will manage itself to ensure that members continue to receive value for money." He believed that "there is little doubt that the BSIF would wish to continue to pursue some of its current aims including the promotion of the UK safety industry's views to Government, a constant drive to improve the quality of safety and health in the UK, and reinforce the its position as a conduit for key information to the market and BSIF members whilst contributing to the expansion of the market through member companies" current mission as a formidable lobbying force to promote the interests of its members.

This generational shift was further emphasised by the retirement of Sir John Cullen - President], Dr Geoff Knight - Treasurer [JSP] and Mr Peter Sleigh - Marketing Director [Arco] and the election of Mr Thomas Martin [Arco] and Ms Sarah Bridge [BM Polyco] as Directors. Mr Frank Angear [Scott Health & Safety] also joins the BSIF Board as one of the three PSMA nominees.
