Networking Day ‘best yet’
October 1st 2008

In his address, event organiser David Lummis of BSIF Enterprises thanked members, guests and sponsors for their contribution to the best BSIF Networking Day to date. He commented that this event was without doubt the most convivial and enjoyable social event in the safety industry calendar.

During the afternoon, the now traditional leisure activities provided members and guests the opportunity to meet informally. The 3M/Aearo Golf Tournament took place on the Forest of Arden’s challenging courses and was won this year by Dermot Healey (Healey & Sons) while down the road, at the Birmingham Wheels GP Karting circuit the Health & Safety Matters Grand Prix was won by "team 6" (pictured above right receiving their award from HSM editor Georgina Bisby), comprising of Chris Ross (J & K Ross), Damon Smith (Sperian) and Mark Spree (Ansell).

Incorporating a "blind driving" test for the first time, the overall winner of the Uvex Outdoor Pursuits Challenge was Simon Ashton (Simon Safety).

"We wanted to ensure that our Gala Dinner would continue to take place in a relaxed atmosphere and provide greater networking opportunities", said David, "and we are grateful to Greenham and Flint Insurance for sponsoring the informal, pre-dinner, wine tasting and to CMPinformation for sponsoring the dinner itself and to Arco for their sponsorship of the wines at table.

The toast to the BSIF was proposed by BSIF secretary general Geoff Hooke who commented that 2008 has been one of the most active and successful years in the Federation's history and that he was enthusiastically looking forward to working with members in delivering the 2009 programme.

Before closing his address, David Lummis announced that the Directors’ Club would be holding a luncheon on 14th January at which Judith Hackitt, Chair of the HSE, would be speaking to members about the Executives forward strategy and that the 2009 BSIF Networking Day would be held at the Staverton Park Hotel on 29th September. Both dates for you diary.
