‘ROGUE’ PRODUCTS

There has been a dramatic increase in the incidence of ‘rogue products’ on the UK market and elsewhere across the EU with the BSIF receiving growing evidence of ‘passing-off’, noncompliance and illegal CE.

Marking in respect of PPE. Major concerns are that non-compliant PPE presents real and significant health and safety risks to users. The illegal use of markings and misleading information adversely affect the user's ability to identify and deploy suitable PPE.

The BSIF is to convene a meeting in January to decide how best to proceed and engage with all industry stakeholders to minimise the effects of this problem.
