Genuine products, look for the BSIF shield
September 1st 2009

The BSIF Registered Safety Supplier scheme is the safety industry's response to the increase in the number of counterfeit and illegal PPE currently available in the UK which fails to meet the necessary standards and make exaggerated performance claims. Any manufacturer or supplier of safety equipment displaying the BSIF Shield has signed a declaration to confirm that their product offering has been checked to ensure the integrity of the safety equipment being offered for sale and to agree to continuing to ensure that their safety products are correctly and genuinely CE marked. They have also agreed to submit to regular inspections either through an inclusion within their ISO 9001 quality system or through an independent organisation if they are not ISO 9001 registered.

Companies signed up to this scheme will receive their shields later this month and the BSIF hopes that this that this will become a safety industry standard to help purchasers of safety equipment avoid rogue products and reduce the possibility of workplace injuries.
