Barrier boot
June 1st 2005

A new safety boot from Jallatte is designed to protect construction site personnel against the harsh chemicals that are used in cement.

The Jalmont Beton SAS has been created using a ‘reversed leather’ manufacturing process and has a water-resistant fibrous velour upper that has been specially coated to prevent any liquid permeating the material.

The company’s Paul Hamer explains “By reversing the leather so that the fibrous velour is on the outside and enhancing it with a special coating, Jalmont Beton provides a truly effective barrier against cement and concrete, among the most hazardous chemicals used in the construction industry.” The boot is described as durable, light and comfortable and, once left to dry, cement simply brushes away as it is held in the fibres of the velour.

Physical protection is provided by a 200 joule steel toecap, while a dual density Softane sole unit provides a comfort layer around the foot to maximise side support.
