SOFTWARE THAT CAN PREDICT TYRE WEAR
April 1st 2005

Fleets are beginning to use specialist software to predict tyre wear in order to help meet their duty of care obligations, according to cfc solutions.

Danger occurs when a tyre tread is low or if the tyre is damaged. On larger fleets, a statistical analysis allows an accurate picture to be built up of when tyres are likely to need replacing. Reminders can then be sent to drivers to have their tyres checked.

Andrew Lech, sales and marketing director, says predicting tyre wear using software is not intended to replace regular tyre checks that should be carried out by drivers or other parties.

However, he says “Software has a role to play by helping fleets meet duty of care obligations and could, in time, be extended to other wear items, such as brake pads.”
