Theatre debut for hse's new campaign June 1st 2006 The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) took to the stage at Leeds Grand Theatre last month to launch a major new campaign 'Height Aware' which warns that even a fall from below head height can kill.
Last year, more than 3700 major injuries were recorded from falls at workplaces across the UK, with six in 10 of those injuries coming as a result of working at below head height.
Carol Downes, lead inspector for the campaign at HSE Yorkshire and Humber, comments "Falls are preventable when work is planned properly, the risks are accurately assessed, and the correct equipment used.
"Accidents cost businesses money, but for a smaller operator, it could cost much more than that it could cost you your business.
Worst of all for the individual, it could cost them their life." |
