Making life easier
June 1st 2005

Kingspan, producer of insulated cladding and roofing panels, is a company keen to promote safe working methods.

It points out that by introducing mechanical handling to the cladding and roofing process, both manual lifting and manhours worked at height are reduced.

Kingspan says most mechanical handling methods manipulate panels with far greater precision that is possible with manual methods. There is little risk of the panel slipping or colliding with other panels or obstacles and it can be lifted, positioned and fixed quicker than with manual methods.

Panels have evolved with new breed of machine so that, together, they provide a complete solution. Most panels are delivered to site in packs, with alternate panels inverted so they nest together. When removing them from the pack, it is necessary to rotate every other panel.

The latest generation of mechanical handling devices ensure that manhandling of panels is no longer necessary.
