Measures real time exposure to HAVs
October 1st 2009

With no cure for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome prevention is crucial. Reactec's HAVmeter system which has been adopted by Norfolk County Council, Tarmac and Severfield-Rowen, is designed to remove the inaccuracies of employee exposure estimation, giving accurate

exposure levels in real-time, reducing paperwork and labour hours.

The system is easy to use; the employee simply swipes their personalised card through the base station at the start of their shift which allocates a HAVmeter to them for the duration of the day.

Each tool is fitted with a tool tag, programmed to the tool's vibration output. The HAVmeter then magnetically connects with the tool tag displaying a simple traffic light system in line with the HSE's points system, warning the employee before high exposure levels are reached.

The HAVmeter can be used on any tool before returning it to the base station at the end of the day for charging, downloading data and storing information automatically.

With the HSE's plans to eliminate all new cases of HAVS by 2015, the HAVmeter is a useful solution for Hand-Arm Vibration.
