Construction firms urged to guard against litigation
December 1st 2008

According to hand protection expert, Marigold Industrial, firms operating within the construction sector need to protect themselves against the growing threat of litigation brought by injured employees lured by no-win no fee law firms.

Although fatalities within the sector have been dropping, compensation culture does not just focus on major injuries, claims the company, and employers need to ensure risk assessments, appropriate levels of PPE and continuous training are put in place to reduce the threat of on-site injuries and subsequent litigation.

The company has established a hand and arm protection training programme for the construction industry and believes revisiting core worker protection issues, such as hand protection, to ensure the right gloves are being used for the tasks undertaken on site and underpinning this with on-site training and education can make significant inroads into reducing the litigation threat.
