CODE OF PRACTICE FOR SAFE WORK PLATFORMS August 1st 2005 A new Code of Practice for the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) is now out for consultation across the industry.
The Code of Practice, published by the British Standards Institution (BSI) takes into account three key safety regulations: the Work at height Regulations; the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER); and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).
It is aimed at equipment managers, operators, trainers and hirers, as well as those who enforce safety regulations.
IPAF managing director Tim Whiteman says: This Code of Practice sets the standard for best practice for the safe use of MEWPs. It is a valuable publication which in due course ought to be on the bookshelves of every platform owner. More articles from IPAF: |
