One in six commercial vehicle accidents happens when reversing, and the HSE states that almost one quarter of all deaths involving vehicles at work occurs while the vehicle is reversing.

Brigade Electronics believes many such accidents can be avoided.

Philip Hanson-Abbott, managing director, says “For just a few pounds you can buy a reversing alarm and for just over £100 a CCTV reversing system, so there’s no excuse. And it’s not only commercial vehicles that we’re talking about. A recent record fine was for a fatal accident caused by a forklift truck.” The company has introduced a new range of Backalarm reversing and warning systems that includes fixed volume, selfadjusting, constant tone, dual function and bbs-tek broadband sound models.

The new models are said to improve reliability, increase accuracy in sound levels, provide easier installation and last longer.
