RMC Readymix has chosen Brigade BE-255 Backeye rear view cctv systems to improve the safety of its concrete mixer vehicles. The company is retrofitting units to its existing fleet, and new vehicles will have cameras fitted as standard.

Jon Mottram, project manager, comments We decided to undertake a review of vehicle safety including improving visibility, both at the rear and sides of the vehicles and the safety of construction sites.

The cameras have made a significant difference. Drivers say they have more confidence and the cameras help ensure theres no one, or any objects, behind them when reversing.

The BE-255 is a heavy duty monochrome unit with six infrared leds for ultra-low light performance. It has two camera inputs and features automatic switching from camera two to camera one when reverse gear is engaged to ensure safe reversing.

An audio function lets drivers hear what is going on behind the vehicle.
