Access control August 1st 2006 Since 2003, Davis Derby has installed access control and data logging systems for several Johnson Controls automotive interior plants. Currently it is helping to monitor use and reduce vehicle damage at Telford, Wednesbury and Portsmouth.
It is working alongside Toyota Industrial Equipment, installing key fob access and datalogging systems onto the Telford site's trucks, of which 98% are counterbalance models and 2% are pedestrian stacker trucks that move pallets and stillages around highly pedestrianised and fastmoving zones.
Telford's new key fob access-based system assigns permits-to-drive for 50 operators to designated vehicles in specified departments.
Tim Bridle, UK health, safety, ergonomic and environment manager, says "It has helped us to relax our systems and operations simply because we have the confidence that only authorised drivers are on the trucks.
The TruckLOG system software measures the real time use of each of the trucks and any collision above a preset threshold. Each vehicle has been fitted with a beacon which will immediately alert supervisors to any impact. More articles from Davis Derby Limited: |
