Wireless forklift monitoring device
April 1st 2006

Companies wanting to safeguard staff, equipment and facilities in areas where forklifts are in use can now seamlessly integrate the latest ShockSwitch RFID from Lamerholm Electronics into their existing network.

ShockSwitch is a real-time link between a forklift truck in the plant and a PC in the office. It collects data regarding use of the truck.

The company says that the ShockSwitch RFID is currently the only system on the market that conforms completely to the 802.11 standard, without the need for modification.

The device is attached to the forklift and transmits event data via a wireless network to the software.

Users can monitor an unlimited number of trucks and these can be programmed to send data straight away or to wait until a number of predefined events have occurred. When incidents have safety implications, an alarm is sent immediately.
