Multi-directional trucks
February 1st 2005

Glynwed Pipe Systems used to rely on counterbalance forklifts for handling coils and sideloaders to cope with pipe lengths to 18m.

Now, two 6t multidirectional Combilift forklifts are used instead.

An LPG powered truck is used at the manufacturing facility, while a diesel model operates in the stockyard.

The Combilift can block stack the pipes to four bundles high, enabling the large amount of stock waiting to be shipped to be compressed into a much smaller area, giving shorter runs and time savings for the driver. Lift capacity is more than enough to cope with two bundles of 12m pipe, enabling faster loading.

The sideways capability of the truck allows safe low-level handling of loads past obstacles.
