Sheds light on safety
February 1st 2005

Poor lighting can affect the health of people at work, causing symptoms such as eyestrain, migraine and headaches. It can also result in accidents.

In an attempt to improve working conditions throughout the commercial vehicle industry, Labcraft has developed a new range of lights and operates a Certificate of Excellence scheme.

The HSE recommends a minimum working light level of 20 lumens in transport operations, with 50 lumens average.

However, Labcraft says light levels in some truck bodies are below 5 lumens.

The company has introduced a Certificate of Excellence scheme. Based on the HSE guidelines, it involves a series of tests to evaluate lighting levels, distribution of light and the glare factor.
