Improved storage density
October 1st 2007

Five Aisle-Master articulated forklifts are keeping operations rolling at West Midlands-based Protec Direct, distributor of PPE, work and leisure wear. By exploiting the articulated design and capabilities of the 1 LPG and 4 electric powered trucks to work in narrower aisles and tighter confines than the trucks previously used at the site, Protec Direct has been able to replace bulk racking with space efficient pallet racking, creating extra picking locations. This has improved storage density by 20% and has created more than 700 extra pallet positions. In turn, this has enabled the provision of more internal storage space. The outlay on rent for additional storage space has also been saved. The Aisle-Master range can work in aisles of 1.75m, with capacities to 2.5t and lift heights of up to 12.5m.
