Multi-directional solution to steel
February 1st 2008

Moving, stacking and locating stock at Access Technologies has become easier and safer since a Combilift forklift arrived at the Shropshire site.

The company produces open steel flooring and safety access products and wanted to improve its handling procedures.

Tony Baldassarra, operations director, explains "Trying to get 6m long packs of panels and 7.5m long tubes up a gradient and through a 4.8m wide doorway with counterbalance trucks was a trial, and potentially dangerous, not to mention time consuming." The solution came in the form of a Combilift C3000 3t capacity multi-directional forklift, supplied by Abex.

The LPG-powered truck works both as a counterbalance and sideloader, inside and out. It offloads deliveries in the yard in forward mode, the push of a button initiates sideways mode to carry long lengths through doors, and the truck will block stack in narrow aisles once in the building.
