Armed for safer lifting
October 1st 2006

With 12 manufacturing sites on five continents, Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting Europe has to transfer hundreds of 25kg plastic sacks of raw material from pallets to hoppers every day at its Hull plant.

This used to be a manual operation, but the company recognised the need for freestanding lifting equipment to eliminate the risk of injury to employees and installed an AL-Vac Two- Joint Swing Arm vacuum lifter.

Its simple hand controls enable the operator to pick up the sacks individually using the unit's powerful vacuum head, and position them with great precision over hoppers.

Commenting on the health and safety benefits, Albert Ledger, production manager at the Hull plant, says "The AL- Vac takes all the strain, eliminating the risk of injury to our workforce and dramatically improving productivity in the process."
