Easy-push tug

Cotswolds-based Godwin Pumps has improved safety and productivity since taking delivery of a Nu- Star Super Pusher. The unit moves large HL130-HL250 Dri-Prime pump units around the manufacturing and testing facilities.

Pumps are mounted on skid bases and can weigh up to 5800kg and measure up to 4.2 by 2.1m.

Kevin Waldron, assembly shop supervisor, explains “We have to move the pumps between several different shop-floor locations and this was taking up to eight people on the biggest pumps.

“Not only was this unproductive, it represented a health and safety risk. By using the Super Pusher with steering arm, one person can safely push, pull and manoeuvre the pump all around the factory.” Nu-Star makes a range of electric tugs that eliminate the manual effort associated with movement of heavy, wheeled loads. At 1.4m long and 760mm wide, the Super Pusher is its largest. It has a 10mm steel chassis and 1.5kw electric motor.
