As part of its environmental management system, Bardon Aggregates has fitted all site vehicles with the noiseless bbs-tek reversing alarm from Brigade Electronics.

Andrew Deas, quarry manager at Little Paxton site, Cambridgeshire, explains the decision The sound the bbs-tek produces is very distinct and is directed to where it should be. This means it grabs the attention of anyone behind it, which addresses the main safety issue.

Our loading shovels, dump truck and tele-handler were all previously fitted with conventional reversing alarms, but residents from a neighbouring farm complained about the noise. Since making the switch to the bbs-tek the farmer has actually dropped by to thank us.

The alarm uses broadband sound (or white sound) that is said to be equally effective at 5dB(A) lower than conventional reversing alarms and dissipates sound much faster.
