Filling unit removes manual handling risk April 1st 2008 Solar Petroleum has resolved
health and safety issues,
improved productivity and
reduced costs since
installing a StrongArm
container filling system at
its Widnes factory.
The company used to fill
containers individually using
a semi-automatic system
whereby a 25L container was
filled to a pre-set weight,
moved by an operator to a
pallet, and the procedure
repeated until a pallet of 40
containers was made up.
The new system, designed
and installed by Filling
Solutions, has eliminated
the manual handling risk
and increased productivity.
An operator positions 20
empty containers onto a
pallet. These are filled in
one operation to an accurate
fill weight. A second layer of
20 containers is placed on
top and the process repeated.
Filling speeds have been
increased from 60 to 100
containers per hour. The
StrongArm unit can fill two
different size 25L containers,
205L drums and 1000L IBCs. More articles from Filling Solutions Limited: |
