Potters wheel in safer solution
June 1st 2007

The Denby Pottery Company has taken delivery of two Nu-Star Power Pushers at its manufacturing facility in Derbyshire.

The units are used to push and pull pots to and from the kilns and to manoeuvre loaded kiln cars in and out of the kilns themselves.

Richard Brooke, Denby's kiln technician, contacted Nu-Star in November 2006 as part of an initiative to reduce the manual handling risks associated with moving heavy trolleys. After an on-site demonstration, he decided that the versatile steering arm attachment on the Power Pusher would enable the tasks to be accomplished efficiently and safely.

He comments that the equipment has helped the company make significant progress towards its health and safety targets and says that there is less damage to pots in transit around the factory.
