Reduces risk of injury February 1st 2004 A Cornwall-based waste management company has added a Razorback ground-loading vehicle to its fleet to improve safety for employees and speed loading operations.
The vehicle is used to collect and forward clinical waste for Serviceteam, a subsidiary of Cleanaway in Redruth. The ground loading system eliminates the need for trailers, forklifts, tail lifts or ramps when transporting clinical waste.
The vehicle floor can be lowered to ground level, so waste can be pushed straight in. Loading is safer and quicker for operators as they do not have to climb on the back of the vehicle or balance the container trolleys on tail lifts.
The convenient and safe loading system is said to substantially reduce the risk of Serviceteam staff sustaining manual handling injuries. It also reduces damage to the wheels of the container trolleys.
Steve Washburn, national fleet manager for Cleanaway, says The benefits of not having to use a tail lift make the vehicle an excellent investment. |
