Safer transfers
June 1st 2006

Manual handling of pallets is becoming an increasing concern in the workplace.

A transfer device from Premier Pallet Systems offers a totally hands-free alternative to conventional inverters. The Pallet Changer presents the recovered pallet at floor level for exchange.

It is allied to a range of pallet stacker/dispensers which accumulate them.

The fully automatic system grips the pallet before reclining the load.

Goods are held securely while the pallet returns to floor level to be swapped.

Premier makes its own heavy duty dispenser, the Premstacker, and markets the Danish-built Palomat in the UK. Both work on a raise and lower principle, stacking or depositing each pallet at floor level. They operate on compressed air and can switch between stacking and dispensing modes. Versions with 14 or 25 pallet capacity are available.

While the Pallet changer has primarily proved of interest to customers in the pharmaceutical sector, the pallet stackers have more widespread appeal due to the benefits of reduced injuries caused by lifting (and dropping) heavy wooden pallets.
