LIGHTENING THE LOAD FOR LITTLEWOODS
October 1st 2004

After carrying out trials of a bespoke mobile dock lift from Transdek UK, Littlewoods placed an order for 26 of the Romadek XL 1250 systems for use at each of its flat-floor depots.

The lifts have a specially extended 3.3m platform for manoeuvring stillages, and fixed rear guards protect against falls when the lift is raised.

Business Express delivers on behalf of Littlewoods and can now transport products straight from its Wrexham warehouse to all depots. In the past, bulkier items too big to lift off the rear of a box van without docking facilities were sent to a Central Sortation Centre to be unloaded, resorted and loose-loaded into van trailers.

As well as providing cost savings in terms of heightened logistics efficiency, the mobile dock lift is expected to reduce product damage caused by excessive handling.
