Takes the heat
October 1st 2006

UK manufacturer and distributor of beauty and cosmetic products, Herb UK, was recently amazed to find one item survive a substantial fire at its warehouse.

The fire required 20 fire appliances and over 100 fire fighters. Flames reached 20ft, cladding melted and the heat blew the windows out above the office. It took Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service more than 2 hours to get the blaze under control.

When Managing Director Raoul Perfitt was finally allowed into the remains of his business the sight that greeted him was one of almost complete devastation, but on entering what had been the manufacturing area he saw that a recently purchased Empteezy Drum Storage unit was, apart from superficial blackening, still in tact.

The cause of the fire was put down to rubbish selfcombusting; temperatures at the seat of the fire reached an estimated 600 degrees.

Empteezy has been asked to carry out an assessment of the entire site and make recommendations for the site's drum and flammable liquids storage needs.
