UK first in container handling

After seeing the Caljan BeltTrack fitted with Vaculex ParceLift in operation at a test installation, Draper Tools has installed the system to empty containers at its distribution centre in Chandlers Ford. The equipment is the first of its kind in the UK.

Previously, a team of four to six people was needed to empty containers. This has now been reduced to three or four-man teams, thanks to the telescopic boom conveyor and integral lifting aid.

The unit is fitted on to rail tracks that lie flush in the floor, so that it can be moved between doors.

Although ergonomics rather than speed have been the prime consideration, Draper Tools is also seeing a financial benefit as fewer people are needed to unload.
