Audit shows poor evacuation provision
October 1st 2010

UK businesses are leaving themselves open to claims and prosecution after a series of audits revealed poor emergency or evacuation equipment provision in the work place, claims emergency supply experts Ferno. Audits carried out by Ferno across a range of UK companies found 80% were failing to meet even basic fire or evacuation procedures on their premises. In the aftermath of an emergency or official inspection the firms could face prosecution, fines or even closure until they comply with regulations. “We are currently advising clients on the best cost effective way to update their policies and equipment so they aren’t leaving themselves wide open – not just to criticism, but to the serious threat of prosecution,” said sales and marketing director, Simon Shepherd.
