Two-way radio system August 1st 2007 With more than 100 000 building fires every year, it is essential that safe evacuation is managed appropriately. Every public access building needs to include disabled people in its emergency evacuation plan. Many will be able to reach the safety of a protected escape route or final exit independently. However, this is not always possible. A refuge area provides a temporary safe space where disabled people can wait for others to help them evacuate. This can be daunting especially if they are alone and unaware if help is on the way. Deaf Alerter has introduced Refuge Alerter, a radio communication system to help overcome the sense of isolation and assist rescue teams in locating the occupied refuge areas. The two-way, Ofcom licensed RA1000 system provides wireless communication between the refuge outstations, fixed base station and handheld portable base stations. In an emergency, the system operator does not have to stay by the fixed base system to send or receive refuge calls. More articles from Deaf Alerter Plc: |
