Lessen thrombosis risk
April 1st 2007

Recent national newspaper reports have again highlighted the health risks office workers face if they spend too much time sitting in front of computers Reports quoted a New Zealand study which found that one third of patients admitted to hospital with deep vein thrombosis had jobs that involved sitting at desks for long periods – in some cases for up to 14 hours a day.

According to the Daily Telegraph (13/03/2007), DVT kills between 500 and 1000 people in Britain each year and affects around 100 000.

However, cases of socalled 'e-thrombosis' can be easily avoided, even for workaholics, according to Posturite. The company's stand at Safety & Health Expo will feature chairs and height-adjustable desks that encourage regular movement without interrupting the work flow.

Ian Fletcher-Price, MD, comments "It's ridiculous that a health risk more commonly associated with long distance air travel has transmuted to the office.

There's no need for it.The equipment to avoid the problem is available.

"All it requires is the corporate will." Safety & Health Expo, Stand G4
