Saddle seat helps to promote good posture April 1st 2006 Sitting on a Bambach saddle seat while working improves the skill and accuracy with which tasks are performed, according to research undertaken by the University of Birmingham's School of Health Sciences.
The study concluded that sitting in an anteriorly tilted position - where the pelvis tilts forward as on the Bambach - helps promote a healthier working posture and may minimise discal pressure, reducing low back pain and the tendency to slump.
Jill Ramsey, lecturer in physiotherapy, comments "The subjects, when seated on a Bambach, performed significantly better in upper limb tasks than the subject when seated on a flat seat."
Available from Bambach Europe, the seat is shaped like a horse's saddle and uses the biomechanics of the body to naturally position the spine while supporting the pelvis, promoting spinal balance.
