Safe evacuation
April 1st 2006 At this year's Safety & Health Expo Evac+Chair International will be launching a Mark III emergency evacuation chair.
The device provides a safe and easy means of evacuating the mobilityimpaired.
It uses continuous rotating v-belts to provide a controlled descent down stairways, enabling a single user to evacuate a person with mobility difficulties, without the need for lifting.
It also offers a cost effective solution, as there is no need to alter the fabric of the building.
The new version, which will be unveiled at the show, has several new features and increased capabilities in terms of load and angle of descent.
The company will also be showing its IBEX transeat patient transporter, a stair climber and descender that grips the stairs and controls the rate of descent with an adjustable braking system.
