CARDIAC ARREST: HELP’S AT HAND June 1st 2005 To provide employees with a better chance of survival should they suffer a sudden cardiac arrest at work, Morgan Stanley has installed 16 defibrillators at its European HQ in London’s Canary Wharf.
Supplied by Laerdal Medical, they are strategically placed throughout the site for emergency use before the arrival of an ambulance.
The compact, robust unit is said to be easy to use.
Automated voice commands and diagrams guide the operator each step of the way. Through pads attached to the patient’s chest, the machine analyses the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, will advise the operator to administer a controlled shock. It continues to assess the heart’s rhythm until an ambulance arrives and will advise further shocks if necessary. More articles from Laerdal Medical Ltd: |
