For fleet control
July 1st 2009

Guildford Borough Council uses Traka's key management system on its fleet of 44 waste collection vehicles to help maximise vehicle utilisation.

To comply with the requirements of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), Guildford Council must maintain strict records on vehicle maintenance, driver licensing and competence, and vehicle use and mileage. With about 25% of its driver workforce employed by agencies, responsibility and accountability for vehicle use has in the past been a particular challenge. As drivers know they can be identified via the Traka system, they are much more likely to report minor accidents. The system also ensures only authorised users gain access to the keys, preventing the risk of operators driving a vehicles they are not qualified for.
