June 1st 2006 A safety professional has developed a simple yet cheap way of measuring noise that will help employers combat noise in the workplace and so help prevent hearing loss.
Available from Oi-noise, Oi emits 80 decibels (the level at which damage to hearing can start). If it can't be heard, then the background noise is in excess of 80 decibels and the employer can then take appropriate action.
