Cadbury deals with it
October 1st 2004

Thousands of staff at Cadbury Trebor Bassett are to undergo a new style health and safety programme after trials helped achieve a 45% cut in workplace accidents.

The ‘Deal with It’ behavioural training package from the SHE Group, (safety, health and environment consultancy team of SOG), was initially introduced by Cadbury Trebor Bassett at its Bournville manufacturing site in Birmingham, but was so successful that it is to be extended to other sites.

Alan Houghton, SOG’s specialist services director, explains The strength of the half day course is that it encourages participants to look at the risks they take, both at work and at home, and to consider the potential consequences of their actions. Through group exercises, a video and even playing a board game, people learn to deal with health and safety issues, whether they impact on the factory floor, or even on a day’s gardening at the weekend.”
