24/7 support for community staff
February 1st 2007

Scarborough Borough and Ryedale District Council, part of the North Yorkshire & York Primary Care Trust, are using Argyll Telecom's CommuniCare lone worker monitoring system to help safeguard workers.

Around 240 Community Staff are using the service, which monitors their safety 24/7, 365 days a year.

As staff in the field are faced with challenging situations, the PCT wanted to ensure duty of care to its lone workers.

Through Argyll's integrated control room the PCT manages and monitors its Community Staff locations. Should staff experience a potentially hazardous situation, they are just a button-press away from discreetly summoning assistance. Using a preconfigured button on their mobile phone, they can issue a duress signal that alerts Argyll's control room and opens a voice channel, enabling operators to listen in. Operators instigate an agreed incident management procedure and, if required, use links with the police.
