Emergency Response for Lone Workers
December 1st 2005

Skyguard has introduced a fleet of 730 emergency response vehicles that will be managed through its 24h emergency response centre.

Now, when a user raises an alarm on his or her pocket-sized SkyMinder unit, the Response centre operator will be able to verify the incident then call in either the emergency services or the company's own mobile team, depending on the type of problem.

Patrick Dealtry, director, says "While the emergency services will usually be the first choice, there are instances that they will not handle. A user who feels they are in a threatening situation, but has not actually been attacked, is a typical case where we will send in our own security officers."

Once activated, each device provides Skyguard's operators with personal details, photograph and precise location on large scale mapping. Verification that the incident is not a false alarm is enabled by 2- way audio communication with the person in distress, that also allows the operator to decide on the most appropriate response service, before sending in help.

Not only can lone staff now benefit from a professional personal safety service, but their employers also gain significant protection against compensation and corporate negligence claims.

Skyguard's new national response service is provided by legion security using the Nikaro network of guarding companies' mobile response vehicles.
