Lone worker security
February 1st 2006

Members of Sefton Council's emergency duty team have been given greater security and peace of mind following the adoption of an Identicom lone worker device, manufactured by Connexion2.

Supplied by Bold Communications, the device resembles a normal ID holder, but is packed with the latest mobile phone technology. It enables a lone worker to covertly raise an alarm if threatened and allows a third party to listen to what is happening and record events whatever the distance.

Sefton's security service monitors the Identicom units from its control room.

If a worker feels threatens, they discreetly push an alarm button that sends a call for help to a monitoring centre.

The unit can also identify a worker's location using GSM/LBS technology.
