Provides advanced emergency support
August 1st 2006

Anyone feeling threatened or in danger can now use their mobile phone to connect to emergency operators who will summon help through a low-cost lone worker protection service from Orbis Monitoring. No additional equipment or additional line rental are required to use Code5.

One press of an SOSprogrammed key on a mobile puts users through to the Orbis 24/7 response centre, where operators will listenin to incidents and take appropriate action including, if necessary, summoning the emergency services using speed access codes.

Location identification is by pre-recorded message, plus LBS base station location for GSM phones or by satellite for those with smart phones using the Code5 GPS service.

Orbis programs two keys on a user's mobile a Red Alert, and an Amber Alert. Amber is used to record messages and whereabouts for retrieval by operators if an emergency arises; red is used in emergencies to open up two-way communications with the response centre.
